Vendor Reviews

I have to start out by saying that I really liked most of our vendors.  Some I shopped diligently and others I just knew they were the ones I wanted.  Most were based on Knottie recommendations.  A couple were just good finds.  But I don’t think a single one disappointed me.  It’s amazing how in this industry everyone feels like your friend. If you have questions you can email me at [email protected].

THE BIG DAY!

Church - First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth – A-
www.fpcp.net

Picture
Did I really just grade a church?  Ah well.  We selected FPCP because it’s beautiful and because they would accept us – DH is Catholic, I’m Episcopal and neither of us practice. They were also all-inclusive – I didn’t have to search for a pastor, musician, etc – the church provided all of this as part of their package.  I think they were on the pricey side in comparison to chapels (which we were looking at) but not too bad in comparison to other churches.  And they did not require much time – we did not have to attend services or counseling.  They are very well organized – no hassle.  There is a clerk who works regular business hours and is always available to answer questions.  But we didn’t meet our (required) wedding coordinator until the rehearsal.  And we didn’t really have an opportunity to talk through the service with her or the pastor much in advance.  If you book here, I would specifically ask to do so. I think we could have had we asked or been more adamant about it. The grounds are beautiful.  The service was candle lit.  We didn’t do much decoration at all and it was beautiful!

Reception and Guest Accommodations: The Inn at St. John’s – the reception side A++ - the hotel side C www.stjohnsgolfconference.com

Picture
We LOVED the atrium in St. John’s.  We LOVED our coordinator, Kathleen.  (I would like her to work for the President - she could organize him right into shape!) These two things made our reception what it was and we wouldn’t do a thing differently here.  We believed that the venue would set the tone for the reception and we wanted something nice but not snooty.  And we wanted a traditional banquet reception but not a traditional square box room. The atrium filled that need.  April was still considered off-season so we got a deal!  The service was flawless at both the tasting and our reception – even some of our guests mentioned it.  But the food was quite disappointing at the tasting and we were a bit concerned about it but it was EXCELLENT at our reception – received LOTS of compliments on that.  The room is so unique that it really doesn’t take much decorating – it really stands on its own.  If you are considering booking St. John’s ASK FOR KATHLEEN. She was one of our top, if not THE top vendor.  She responds very quickly no matter what time or day of the week it is.  She NEVER got annoyed with my 100 questions.  She is incredibly organized and had everything written down and detailed. She would do anything in her power to make your event exactly what you want it.  Our event was executed perfectly. If anything went wrong, I do not know what it was.

Now the hotel side is a different story.  The people who worked there were nice enough but it felt like the service you would receive as a single night guest at any ol’ Marriott and based on Kathleen’s service, and the fact that we had booked 35 guest rooms and spend thousands of dollars on the reception side, we expected more.  It felt that they had policies and they would do nothing to try to extend a better experience to us.  When our guests called to make reservations a few complained of staff being short or being interrupted by business travelers.  (Now I’m sure that’s where they make their money but there are usually two people at the counter.  Or you could be more polite.) They also wouldn’t guarantee us a late check out until the morning of our check out day.  What?  Why? When we checked in on Friday that room wasn’t booked for Sunday.  And we only wanted to stay until 1:00.  Check in is 3:00.  Why can’t you make this happen for us?  Grrr…..

Bride engagement and wedding ring and groom wedding band - Plymouth Jewelers – A++
www.plymouthjewelry.com

After literally searching high and low and spending HOURS looking for rings we would want to wear for the rest of our lives, we had all of our rings custom made at Plymouth Jewelers.  Kevin, the owner, spent a TON of time with us talking about diamonds and various metals.  He’s a family man and by the end of the process we feel like we’re friends with him and have known him for ages.  And Cass, the designer, is INCREDIBLE and made our rings by scratch. I could watch him for hours – he just widdles away and before you know it he has created a beautiful piece of jewelry.  It’s fascinating!   The process was fast and easy.  We felt the prices were very reasonable.  We’ve been back for sizing, cleaning, buffing, etc.  I only wish they were closer to home.  But we’ll stop in anytime we’re in Plymouth.

Wedding Planner - Bells & Bliss, Misty Trompeter – B

Misty was great!  When we started working with her we had been engaged for almost six months and were feeling SO overwhelmed with the cost of everything and the options available.  She created a budget for us and I trusted her budget more than I did mine since she had experience.  She showed us how St. John’s would work into our budget and she negotiated that contract for us.  We thought St. John’s was so far out of our price range that we wouldn’t even have researched it.  She presented us with the business case and that’s what we needed.  We LOVED St. John’s and are VERY thankful for this.  I gave her a “B” because I feel we paid a lot of money for this.  We knew what we she charged when we hired her and I am thankful that we had her and I’d probably do it again because we needed someone to get us past the planning hump.  But I can’t help but feel that we didn’t quite get our money’s worth. To be fair she also provided us with other vendor recommendations, allowed us to use her discount with other vendors, attended my first linen meeting and first floral meeting to help with the overall look and feel.  And she was a great “girlfriend” to bounce ideas off of and at that point I was very grateful for that.

DJ - Mike Staff, Dave LaVasseur – B

We had the worst time picking out a DJ.  DH had good experiences with Mike Staff.  But once we got there we weren’t totally in love with the Mike Staff process – there are so many DJ’s to choose from that you don’t get to sit down and talk to them one-on-one.  We saw videos of a few DJs and then talked to ours on the phone.  And then we picked him based on instinct.  Dave called us the week of our wedding, as the Mike Staff process dictates, and we talked about what kind of music we like, what our guests were like and we provided him with a list of music we liked and didn’t like.  We met Dave right before we were going to be introduced.  But he did a great job.  Pronounced all of the names correctly and kept our dance floor busy the whole night.  He also did a good job in deciding which guest requests to play and which ones to politely ignore.  He played all of our “must have” songs.  And only did a couple of small minor things that we different than what we requested.  Overall, great job!

Photographer - Bliss Photography, Mishelle Lamarand – A+ pending final images
www.blissbymishelle.com

Picture
I LOVE good wedding photos and can look at them online for HOURS – total time sucker!  I knew I really liked Mishelle’s work when I called her and when we met for lunch I knew I wanted to work with her – she’s one of those people I’d be friends with outside of business.  Not only did I love her work but I trusted her.  I felt she was more professional than other photographers I had met with and I felt she could handle anything that came her way including herding our families and wedding party together for fast pictures – we didn’t have much time for posed photography.  She was a little outside of my budget but we decided to splurge and so far I’m VERY glad!  All of my friends and family say our pictures look like they came out of a magazine.  I CANNOT wait to see the rest!

Aubri Graybeal from Pink Sky Photography (http://pinkskyphoto.com) was our second shooter, working for Mishelle, and she got some great images as well!  Great team all around!

Baran Video Productions – A – pending completion of video
www.baranvideo.com

DH chose this vendor and I think it was a good choice.  I don’t know too much about how their prices compare because hubby did the research but so far they have been great! They are a husband and wife team and feel like a local vendor – not a national chain.  And I like that.  They really wanted to meet us before the wedding and they came out to us, which was great.  They asked about our vision for the video - what we liked and didn’t like.  There were elements of their package that we didn’t like and so they added in other things – they were flexible in customizing their package for us.  They attended our rehearsal to see the church and understand the church’s guidelines.  This was well beyond my expectations.  I only noticed them a few times at the wedding and reception – they were very unobtrusive.  And our video trailer came quickly, as promised, and so far we really like it!

Flowers - The Parsonage, Liz – A++
www.parsonageflowers.com

Picture
We signed our contract with Liz one month before our wedding.  ONE MONTH.  I felt her prices and designs were comparable to others but her personality and customer service were so over the top that I just wanted to do business with her.  Part of that was that she offers a trial run in her packages and I thought this was SO great.  No one else offered this and do you really want to see your flowers for the first time the day of your wedding?  I also do not know very much about flowers and just gave Liz some direction but she picked out the specific flowers and of course the design.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Our guests took all of our flowers home at the end of the night.  I provided her an inspiration picture of candles hanging from the gazebo and she made this all come together – and it was AWESOME!  She had a variety of money saving tips for us – some of which meant we spent less with her.  She was a wonderful vendor!

Cake - Sorella’s Bakery – A+
www.sorellashomemade.com

Picture
We were not very picky about cake, we just wanted something that tasted pretty good and we didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg.  We stumbled upon Sorella’s and didn’t look back.  They specialize in making butter cream look like fondant and this was perfect since we liked the taste/texture of butter cream but the look of fondant.  The sisters who own Sorella’s gave us great money saving tips and spent plenty of time with us providing advice.  Their delivery was perfect.  The cake tasted great! We also get a small anniversary cake on our one-year anniversary.

Photo booth - Rock the Booth – A
www.rockthebooth.com

I knew I wanted a photo booth.  DH thought I was crazy.  In the end we both LOVED it!  I priced out options and RtB was the most valuable option and had many great reviews on TK.  I didn’t put much more work into this.  I emailed to ask if our date was open and booked it.  Mara was great!  She responded to our emails quickly. She even reminded me about our monogram on our photo strip – I didn’t have to go to her.  Her husband worked the booth the night of our wedding and honestly I didn’t have much interaction with him.  But everything seemed to run smoothly and the booth was a HIT – to say the least.  About a week later I received a disc with our images in the mail.  This vendor was easy and well worth the money!  One tip – make sure you get in there with your hubby.  We didn’t get in by ourselves and TOTALLY regret it. I wish RtB would have kept an eye out for this as well - not that it's their responsibility but it would have been helpful!

Linens  - Chair Covers and Linens, DeVonna  – A+
www.linenhero.com

DeVonna was our sales rep and I LOVED her.  I didn’t carefully price shop this – I went with the recommendation of our wedding planner and we got her discount for going there.  It seemed reasonable to me.  The best part is that they have this great showroom and will set tables with all a variety of linens so you can see your options.  DeVonna is very organized.  She also let us return our own linens, which saved us some money.  We changed our order a couple of times throughout the planning process and she was very helpful - never seemed impatient.   She got in touch with me for final counts.

Day-of-Event Coordinator – Simplicity, Jill and Shelly - A+

Jill and Shelly are awesome! We started looking for DOCs late in our planning.  At that point we figured that we had spent all of this money to make the day great and we didn’t want it to be crazy for us or have something fall through the cracks because we couldn’t keep up.  Hiring them was a great decision!  I literally didn’t have a care in the world on my wedding day and wasn’t worried about them AT ALL leading up to the wedding.  I knew what tasks were Jill’s responsibilities and which were mine and I had no doubts in her.  Jill and I met twice before the wedding and I shared with her every detail that I thought she needed to be aware of – she took notes and seemed very interested and engaged throughout the conversation.  This gave me complete trust in her.  I didn’t even see the room until the guests were in it – I had confidence that everything would be perfect.  Jill also called my vendors in the days leading up to our wedding to confirm and set up delivery times.  (Linens have to arrive before cake and flowers. Don’t want cake there too early for it to melt.  Etc.)  This was an awesome stress saver.  They stayed until the wee hours of the morning packing our things up and even putting different items in different people’s cars.  And they didn't hit DH when he couldn't remember what he did with his car keeys.  THEY'RE SO GREAT!  I whole-heartedly recommend them and could go on and on but….that would be boring!

Limo - BlueDrive Transportation – C

I didn’t have high expectations for transportation because it seems this is a problem area for everyone.  Our limo showed up on time and that’s what’s most important.  But the limo was kinda dirty.  And the driver NEVER put the step stool down for the girls or helped them get into the car.  My Mom hiked herself up there in her dress and without the stool.  I mentioned it to the driver the first time thinking that he didn’t know about the stool.  But then he kept forgetting…and I kept mentioning it.  Ugh.  But the price was right and you probably get what you pay for.

Paper Products  – Just Your Type, Judy Carli – B
[email protected]

Our wedding planner recommended Judy because she was in our price range.  She is a Michigan native who lives in Florida now.  Judy did a great job of taking my direction and various inspiration pics and turning it all into one cohesive design.  She is online ALL THE TIME and is incredibly fast in responding.  She also works very quickly – she was emailing proofs all the time.  But I felt that she required a fair amount  of direction but since the end product was great I thought this was a small price to pay considering her rates.  And her personality is short – you have to look past that.  She did make a mistake and used the wrong color card stock on our table numbers and place cards and we didn’t discover this until a few days before the wedding.  She was incredible in this situation.  She took responsibility, scoured her hometown and message boards for the color paper we needed and overnighted the correct items to our reception hall the DAY OF.  Eeek!  And she did all of this at her own expense.  After this I decided to use her again for our thank you cards.  And I wouldn’t hesitate to use her again in the future for Christmas cards or invites.

Rehearsal Dinner - Station 885 – B+
station885.com

We picked this because it was close, the food was good and it was in our price range.  Their nice, big banquet room wasn’t booked the day of our rehearsal so they gave us the upgrade at no additional charge.  We did have a couple issues picking our package because the person we signed the contract with was not the person we selected our menu with and they were not on the same page.  They also were a bit stressful when we were running late from our rehearsal. I understand that the food was ready but it was family style and they knew we were coming from our rehearsal so we had a bit of a window as to when our start time would be.  But once we got there the service was good.  The food was excellent and PLENTIFUL!

Additional Room Block – Hilton - D
www.plymouth.hgi.com

I booked this room block as a less expensive alternative to St. John’s.  None of our guests ended up staying there.  But one guest did book their room there and then later found out that all of our other guests were staying at St. John’s and they wanted to stay there too.  Hilton said they had a 30 day cancelation policy and would not refund the guests deposit. I have never heard of a hotel having more than a 24 or 48 hour cancelation policy.  I called to try to get the deposit back and finally did get a refund after a LOT of run around.  This refund saved them from an F.

PREPARATIONS

Bridal Gown - I Do Too Bridal – B
www.idotoobridal.com

Picture
I REALLY liked this store. I liked the set up, felt comfortable there, a sales lady didn’t have to be in the changing room with you, they didn’t push anything on me.  I actually found my dress in another store but ordered from I Do Too.  I did price shop it and they had the best price – I paid all at once for the discount.  Also their service was excellent.  The day I was ordering, I was still struggling between two dresses.  They volunteered the information that I could combine those two dresses and totally talked me through the process.  My only complaint is that even though they measured my dress for my body it seemed MUCH larger than it should have been and I had to have a TON of alterations done.  In hindsight, I should have addressed this with them but at the time I just didn’t have the energy.

Bridal Gown Alterations - The Wedding Shoppe – A+
www.theweddingshoppe.net

This is where I had my alterations done.  I know they are not the least expensive shop in town but Michelle did SO MUCH WORK for me and by the time my wedding date rolled around that dress fit like a glove!  She spent a TON of time with me on the bustle – showed me three different options on my dress – pinned the dress up they way the bustle would look.  And then once we picked one she spent more time perfecting it to be what I wanted – and I was VERY picky about this.  She never seemed to be impatient with me (though I’m sure she had to be) and she did everything she said she’d do.  They also have a great selection of jewelry and hair pieces – I also think that these are pricey but out of desperation (and procrastination) I did get my hair comb from them.  I think I could have found something similar for less money but again…timing was everything at that point.

Tuxes – Men’s Warehouse – B –

We felt that MW had the best selection of the stores we went to.  We also liked that their color samples were the size of half of a vest and a neck tie – not tiny little swatches that were too small to visualize.  They totally negotiated with us which was great and placing our order was easy.  But some of our groomsmen were overcharged when they ordered their tuxes and when we called the sales rep to clear it up she couldn’t fix it and questioned the price.  And she wasn’t pleasant about it.  So we had to work through the manager to get this fixed.  Everything came in for the wedding as promised.  The tuxes came in early so there was no scrambling around at the last minute.  Overall, good experience!  (We used the store on Woodward in Birmingham but our Dads and Groomsmen used stores all over Michigan.)

Bridesmaid Dresses – Konja’s Bridal – D –
konjasbridal.com

I REALLY dislike this store.  I disliked it from the get go and it got worse as time went on.  We chose them because their prices were good and included alterations.  Their customer service is TERRIBLE and gets worse after you buy your dresses.  To be fair we only bought two dresses from them so we weren’t big spenders but we were customers never-the-less and expected to be treated well.  First off, this store is ALWAYS closed.  Seriously – EVERY HOLIDAY.  The week between Christmas and New Years.  MLK Day.  And their hours are terrible if you work 9-5.  It just seemed like I could never get in there.  Whenever I asked a question I felt that I was a terrible inconvenience.  And then we went to pick the dresses up after the alterations were done.  The one dress was very wrinkly and it was terrible that I asked for it to be steamed.  And the other dress had a crooked hem.  And the hem was still dragging on the floor.  HELLO!   Alright.  Off soapbox.  I would not recommend them unless you’re willing to put up with terrible customer service in exchange for cheap prices. Just give yourself extra time for corrections to your alterations.

Veil – Occansey Designs - A+
www.occanseydesigns.com

They have so many options that I found it overwhelming at first but once you wrap your head around it the process was easy.  You can completely customize your veil.  I thought the prices were reasonable – MUCH better than the bridal salons.  And their customer service was EXCELLENT.  I emailed with a question and they responded the next day.  The veil arrived when it was supposed to and was exactly what I was expecting.

Bridal Shoes - Shoebuy.com – B

Picture
I know it’s super popular but I had never ordered shoes online.  After MUCH research I ordered from shoebuy.  The price seemed standard – no deal.  I ordered two sizes and sent one back.  All shipping was free as advertised.

Hair and Make-up - Bocci Salon and Spa – B
www.boccisalon.com

I used to be a regular client here and ended up coming back to them after not being confident in other vendors I tried.  I used a hairstylist and make-up artist that I had never used before.  I went in for a trial and just felt like it went really well.  I booked them and the hair stylist (Kelly Masters), her assistant, and the make-up artist came to our suite at St. John’s and we got ready there.  We had a great time.  It felt like they were just friends hanging with us.  We continued eating and drinking while they worked and we could all just sit around and BS while we were getting ready – a totally different atmosphere than a salon.  They were expensive but I loved that they traveled to us and the kind of day they afforded us – low-key and in our suite.

Bridal Necklace & Earrings and BM Necklaces and Earrings - Etsy - BCB Jewelry – A++

Picture
I looked for jewelry FOREVER – invested WAY more time than I am comfortable admitting.  So I ended upordering my jewelry and bridesmaids jewelry like two or three weeks before the wedding.  It was a little more than I was hoping to spend but I LOVED it and was not finding ANYTHING in my price range. I especially LOVED my bridesmaid jewelry - pictured here.  The beads were bulky enough to be modern but the clear color didn't make them crazy or gaudy.  **LOVE** I worked with Trisha at BCBJewelry and she was wonderful.  Answered all of my questions promptly.  Customized her pieces for me.  Kept me updated on their progess and sent me the tracking number.  She also packaged everything in beautiful little brown boxes and the jewelry was well displayed – very professional and a great way to receive the jewelry.  HIGHLY recommend her!

Kids Jewelry – It’s All About You Too – A

Picture
Crazy me decided to ask my six nieces to walk down the aisle with us.  I wanted to give them a little token gift but wanted it to be INexpensive.  I ordered these cute little necklaces and they were perfect.  The younger (under 10) girls LOVED them and the older girls were alright with them.  But I thought it was a nice customized gift.  Vendor was great – low maintenance!

Bridesmaids Hair Flowers - Claire’s – A

I only mention this because I looked high and low for hair combs for myself and everything was SO expensive.  Out of desperation I was in a Clair’s and ran across hair flowers for my bridesmaids that matched their dresses PERFECTLY.  I’m sure that if I had bought these from the dress manufacturer they would have been $40+.  At Claire’s they were $6 and were buy one get one half off.  SCORE!

Monogram Cake Topper - BridalXPress.com – A

Another Knottie recommended this to me.  I knew exactly what I was looking for and took her word for it that they were priced well.  Ordering process was easy and cake topper showed up on time and in good condition.

HAWAII - HONEYMOON!

Travel Agent - Classic Travel – A
www.classictravelusa.com

We don’t normally work with travel agents but decided to for our honeymoon.  Joy at Classic Travel worked with us over the course of many phone calls and emails just to narrow down where we would travel to.  And then more calls and emails to build the honeymoon itself.  Joy recommended resorts that we never would have found on our own and built a trip that fit into our budget – a mix of high end experiences and more budget-friendly experiences to even out the budget of our overall trip.  She also marked that we were honeymooners on all of our travel records so we did get some special perks at a couple of the resorts.  She and her staff continually checked on the first class status of the airlines to try to get us upgraded.  And finally, she sent us a nice little package of itineraries, brochures from each island, and little cards with our contact info to pass out to family and friends.   Since we were so busy with wedding plans, this was an awesome added touch!  Oh, and their website is pretty great too – many of their clients and agents write summaries of their trips so you can get some tips from their site.  I’d recommend going this route for your honeymoon!

Big Island/Kona Village – A+++
www.konavillage.com

Picture
We LOVE Kona Village!!  We’re trying to figure out ways to get back there.  We stayed in a private little hut or hale and it was just the perfect way to start out our honeymoon.  They would never build a resort like this these days – they build high-rise hotels to make the most money.  But I stay in hotels often for work and we wanted something different.  The resort does not have TV’s, in room internet, clocks, or radios in the rooms.  And you think that might drive you crazy but then you have the ocean crashing outside of your covered porch and you find that you can just watch that for hours – TV isn’t necessary.  This resort is pricey but we went with the best available rate and didn’t book a specific room – this saved us a little bit of money.  And it was all-inclusive including beach gear and all non-motorized ocean toys.  The food was EXCELLENT.  The luau was included in our package and was very good - don't pay $60+ for one off the resort when this one is included!  And if you leave the resort to explore the island then they’ll pack your meal for you – VERY nice touch!  They also have a nice little bay area where the beach is sandy and the ocean is calm.  The feeling here is VERY relaxed.  They have hammocks hanging in the sun and some in the shade.

Maui /Ka’anapali Hyatt – A

Picture
Maui is a bit more commercialized than Kona was.  We relaxed more on the Big Island and were more active in Maui.  We went on excursions, played in the pool, went out to dinner.  We stayed at the Hyatt in Ka'anapali.  It was open air, which is cool.  It’s right on the beach – also awesome. The pool didn’t seem to be heated – bummer.  We found parking every night but the spaces were TIGHT and sometimes we had to wait for someone to leave.  Valet was $15/night. Breakfast was included in our package and was quite good.  We usually had lunch at whatever restaurant we happened to be near when we got hungry.  Lahaina was just a short 5 minute drive away and we had dinner there a few times and there was a small, open-air mall within walking distance.  We loved Lahaina and went down there a few times.  There are just shops and restaurants and it’s all right on the ocean.  ALWAYS ask for waterfront seating – there’s nothing to lose and the view is AMAZING.  For example, we stopped into Bubba Gumps (I know weird touristy) for a snack and a drink one day and it’s RIGHT ON THE OCEAN – no beach front there.  And we had the best whale sightings.  We ended up sitting there for a couple of hours and just ordering more food and drinks because we couldn’t pass up the view.   I also recommend Kimo’s for a nice dinner – has waterfront seating and nightly entertainment.  And we had a great lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise – can go there in your beachwear and they have oceanfront seating as well.  (Being from MI, open air and waterfront seating is a HUGE plus for me!)  There’s also a little mall (Whalers Village) within walking distance of the hotel and has a couple of great beach-front restaurants.  I also recommend the Pacific Whale Foundation for ocean excursions.  We went on a snorkel tour with them and an AWESOME whale watching tour.  Their prices are very comparable and we LOVED that they didn’t try to sell us $1 tours in exchange for sitting through a timeshare presentation – I HATE the timeshare presentation schpiel.    The Foundation is a research and education organization and we felt they were a little more on the “up and up” then say a Boss Frogs type of place.  And if you become a member before you go they’ll give you first option at seating and discounted rates.

Oahu/Outrigger on the Beach – C

Picture
We were not huge fans of Oahu or Waikiki.  Now to be fair, we were only there for a couple of days so we really didn’t give it a fair chance.  And we were coming from what we thought was paradise.  And we were only there for Pearl Harbor.  And we were getting to the end of our trip and were cranky about it!  All of that said, I’m SO glad that we went to Pearl Harbor.  That was well worth the trip.  Get to Pearl Harbor EARLY – like 8AM at the latest.  Tickets to the Arizona are free but are handed out for crowd control.  If you get there too late they will run out of tickets.  If you’re there early enough to get tickets to the memorial immediately, that’s great!  If not, ask for the noon tickets. (Or three hours from when you get there.) That will give you enough time to go to the tour the Battleship Missouri.  I’m not a history buff or a military/ship enthusiast but this was really interesting.  Our tour guide was great and it was incredible to think of the men and women who served on the ship.  I do not recommend the Outrigger.  The service was terrible.  We (honeymooners) got two queen size beds.  They offered to convert it for us but all that meant was pushing the beds together.  The walls were paper thin.  The toilet flushed SO LOUD that you could hear your neighbors flush.  The first night it woke me up from my sleep and I thought DH was in the bathroom.  When I realized that he was in (the other) bed I freaked out.  He had to tell me it was the neighbors bathroom.  Waikiki was the prettiest beach we saw while in Hawaii but was very crowded.  It felt like we were in Miami.  Obviously there are more things to do in Oahu that we didn’t have time for – Diamond Head is there and of course all of the excursions but….I feel like I got my taste.
